Ο Υπουργός Ανάπτυξης και Επενδύσεων, κ. Άδωνις Γεωργιάδης έλαβε συγχαρητήρια επιστολή από τον Υφυπουργό Εξωτερικών των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών Αμερικής, αρμόδιο για την Οικονομική Ανάπτυξη, την Ενέργεια και το Περιβάλλον, κ. Keith Krach, αναφορικά με την επιτυχή διαχείριση της κρίσης του κορωνοϊού από την Κυβέρνηση του κ. Κυριάκου Μητσοτάκη.
Ειδικότερα, στην επιστολή του, ο κ. Krach τονίζει ότι «η ισχυρή συνεργασία μας είναι πιο σημαντική τώρα από ποτέ, καθώς δουλεύουμε μαζί για να νικήσουμε αυτό τον ιό και να αντεπεξέλθουμε στις οικονομικές συνέπειες αυτού του αγώνα». Εκφράζει μάλιστα έντονο ενδιαφέρον για το σχέδιο επανεκκίνησης της ελληνικής οικονομίας, το οποίο επεξεργάζεται η Κυβέρνηση.
Επιπλέον, ο Υφυπουργός Εξωτερικών των ΗΠΑ συγχαίρει τον Πρωθυπουργό, τον Υπουργό Ανάπτυξης και Επενδύσεων και τους συνεργάτες τους για το γεγονός ότι η χώρα μας αφαιρέθηκε από την «μαύρη» λίστα «Special 301 Report in 2020» για τα πνευματικά δικαιώματα, κάτι που όπως επισημαίνει, ενισχύει περαιτέρω τη συνεργασία μεταξύ των δύο χωρών.
Τέλος, ο κ. Krach εκφράζει την απογοήτευσή του για την ματαίωση της επίσκεψης της «Partnership Opportunity Delegation» στην Ελλάδα λόγω της πανδημίας. Ταυτόχρονα, όμως, εκφράζει την βούληση της Κυβέρνησης των ΗΠΑ η διμερής συμφωνία για την επιστήμη και την τεχνολογία να υπογραφεί εξ αποστάσεως.

“Dear Adonis,
First of all, my condolences for all the lives lost and disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic in Greece. This is an incredible challenge for both of our countries, and our strong cooperation is more important now than ever as we work together to beat this virus and cope with the economic impacts of that struggle. My team tells me that Greece has been a standout performer in its response to the virus. I’m interested in your ideas for how you plan to re-start your economy.
I wanted to be the first to congratulate you on Greece’s de-listing from the Special 301 Report in 2020. This achievement is a great credit to the hard work of you, PM Mitsotakis, and your colleagues. The United States takes intellectual property rights very seriously, and this is a hugely positive development for U.S.-Greece bilateral relations. Coming from Silicon Valley, I can assure you that the steps your government has taken to address the use of unlicensed software in the public sector and enhance enforcement of intellectual property rights will allow Greece to benefit from its tremendous human capital. We’ve been getting the word out here in the United States that Greece is open for business, and Greece’s removal from the Special 301 Watch List makes the case that much stronger.
I was disappointed that our Partnership Opportunity Delegation had to be postponed and the signing of the new science and technology agreement; but, as we say here, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. We’re working now on a way we can get some of the same outcomes for U.S. companies and Greece through a virtual engagement that will amplify and build on Greece’s great choices about using trusted vendors to build its 5G network. As Greece will lead the way with one of our first such virtual events, we welcome any insights into areas or specific upcoming tenders in the digital infrastructure space. We are also exploring ways we can sign the science and technology agreement remotely in order to allow scientists and researchers in both of our countries to collaborate as soon as possible.
